Presenting a dazzling illustration from Nizami’s masterpiece, Khamsa** (literally “collection of five”). It is a modern handmade reproduction of art attributable to Persian artist Sultan Muhammad.

The artwork illustrates the Isra and Miraj which are the two parts of a Night Journey that, according to Islam, the Islamic prophet Muhammad (PBUH) took during a single night around the year 621. Within Islam it signifies both a physical and spiritual journey.

On a starry night, while still alive, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) freed himself of this world and rode upwards accompanied by angels into heaven on his human-headed steed Buraq. There he beheld the majesty and presence of God.

It is an awesome painting. Its spiritual, ascending forms, dragonlike wisps of cloud, flapping angel wings, and electrifying bursts of flame catch us up in the Prophet’s flight.

The modern artist has executed the painting in minute delicacy and it is Persian style art at its finest. The hand-painted artwork has been brilliantly achieved with use of meticulous brushwork and fine watercolors.

This painting is a superb hand-made art in Persian style. The art of manuscript illumination – decorating with illustrations the pages of a written book – was one of the domains in which Persians excelled, and remain to this day a collector’s delight.

And you have a chance right now to own and experience a sample of this historical spiritual artwork at a very affordable value.
